The possible merger of Crown Resorts and Star Entertainment could accelerate a change in the Australian gaming industry according to changes suggested by Patricia Bergin\u2019s final report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- The Star Entertainment’s offer for\u00a0Crown<\/a>\u00a0Resorts has reopened the possibility of\u00a0change in the Australian gambling industry<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to The Guardian newspaper, the possible merger between the two casino operators could\u00a0prompt a new independent casino authority in NSW<\/strong>, which would likely ban junkets and demand enhanced requirements for suitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the changes would stem from\u00a0Patricia Bergin\u2019s final report<\/strong>\u00a0on Crown Resorts\u00a0suitability to continue holding a casino gaming licence in New South Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bergin suggested the establishment of an Independent Casino Commission (ICC)<\/strong> as a new regulator with the powers of\u00a0a standing Royal Commission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also suggested\u00a0amendments to the NSW Casino Control Act<\/strong>\u00a0and a ban on junket operators in New South Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)<\/strong>\u00a0also reported it will conduct a public review to analyse whether\u00a0Crown<\/a>\u00a0Resorts and Star are allowed to merge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime,\u00a0Crown Resorts continues to make changes\u00a0<\/strong>to comply with\u00a0ILGA requirements<\/a>\u00a0to be able to open the casino at its new Barangaroo property.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
