{"id":17627,"date":"2021-05-06T16:07:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-06T16:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=17627"},"modified":"2021-05-06T16:24:27","modified_gmt":"2021-05-06T16:24:27","slug":"macau-to-launch-consultation-on-gaming-rights-with-legislators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-launch-consultation-on-gaming-rights-with-legislators","title":{"rendered":"Macau to launch consultation on gaming rights with legislators"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The consultation on gaming rights will be held on May 17 will gather legislators&#8217; opinions about future gaming concessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.-\u00a0<strong>\u00a0The Macau government<\/strong>\u00a0has announced it will hold a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-launch-consultation-on-gaming-rights-in-second-half\">consultation session<\/a>\u00a0with Legislative Assembly legislators on May 17 to gather their opinions on proposed amendments to Macau\u2019s gaming law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consultation will also<strong>\u00a0include the participation of the 10-member Public Concessions Follow-up Committee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau\u2019s current casino licences<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>are due to\u00a0<strong>expire in June 2022<\/strong>, but according to the city&#8217;s gaming laws could be extended for up to five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/report-suggests-macau-consider-online-gambling-to-recover-from-covid-19\">consultation<\/a>, some analysts have suggested the upcoming retendering of Macau\u2019s casino licences could be the ideal time to\u00a0<strong>implement changes to the licence criteria<\/strong>\u00a0and to allow online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-reconsider-citys-gaming-licence-criteria\">A research paper<\/a>\u00a0has suggested that Macau should add requirements for operators to invest in <strong>the diversification of Macau\u2019s economy<\/strong>, which is highly dependent on the tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will also be a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/consultation-on-macau-gaming-law-delayed-until-september\">public consultation<\/a>\u00a0on the amendment of Macau\u2019s gaming law.
