{"id":17619,"date":"2021-05-06T16:11:01","date_gmt":"2021-05-06T16:11:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=17619"},"modified":"2026-04-23T19:45:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T22:45:37","slug":"macau-received-165500-visitors-arrivals-over-labour-day-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-165500-visitors-arrivals-over-labour-day-break","title":{"rendered":"Macau received 165,500 visitors arrivals over Labour Day break"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The peak in arrivals came at the start of the Labour Day break with more than 44,000 visitors arriving on May 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Macau\u2019s Public Security Police have reported that 165,500 tourists came to Macau during the<strong>\u00a0Labour Day break<\/strong>\u00a0between May 1 and May 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-sees-highest-number-of-arrivals-during-labour-day-break\">visitor arrivals<\/a>\u00a0was close to predictions made by Macau authorities, who had predicted <strong>a 20 per cent increase<\/strong>\u00a0in daily visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being a good performance,\u00a0<strong>numbers were a long way from 2019 levels, when Macau registered 531,000 visitors\u00a0<\/strong>arrivals during what was a four-day break in 2019 (this year the Labour Day break was extended).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Macau Government Tourism Office,\u00a0<strong>the first day set the highest daily volume of visitors<\/strong>\u00a0since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, with 44,000\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-receives-99568-tourists-during-first-week-of-april\">arrivals<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Macau authorities reported that the daily total then fell <\/strong>to 36,000\u00a0and 34,000 for May 2 and 3. May 4 saw 28,500 visitors arrivals and<strong>\u00a0May 5, 23,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brokerage JP Morgan Securities estimated that\u00a0<strong>Macau\u2019s GGR\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>for the Labour Day break could reach between 40 per cent and 50 per cent of pre-pandemic levels with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-daily-ggr-could-reach-us50m-during-labour-day-break\">a daily GGR<\/a>\u00a0of nearly\u00a0<strong>MOP400m (US$50m)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The peak in arrivals came at the start of the Labour Day break with more than 44,000 visitors arriving on May 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":17624,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau recorded 165,500 visitor arrivals during the Labour Day break (May 1-5), with a peak of 44,000 on May 1, marking the highest daily volume since the pandemic's onset.
