{"id":17615,"date":"2021-05-06T15:57:33","date_gmt":"2021-05-06T15:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=17615"},"modified":"2026-04-23T19:46:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T22:46:12","slug":"the-star-revenue-up-37-for-january-to-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/the-star-revenue-up-37-for-january-to-may","title":{"rendered":"The Star revenue up 37% for January to May"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Star Entertainment Group has reported that domestic gaming revenue was up 37 per cent during the second half of the 2020\/2021 financial year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Australia.-\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/star-entertainment-still-profitable-despite-covid-19-impact\">Star Entertainment Group<\/a>\u00a0continues to show signs of recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic with<strong>\u00a0domestic gross gambling revenue (GGR) up 37 per cent year-on-year for the second half of its fiscal year, <\/strong>from January to May 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GGR however was down 10 per cent when compared to the same period in 2019<\/strong>, before the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Star Entertainment Group reported that <strong>slots revenue was up 3 per cent compared to the second half of the fiscal year 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company stated: &#8220;Performance continues to be impacted by Covid-19 related operating restrictions, however,<strong>&nbsp;2H FY2021 trading is exhibiting improving trends&nbsp;<\/strong>as the Covid-19 related operating restrictions are eased.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/the-star-sydney-to-increase-capacity-to-10000\">The Star Sydney<\/a>\u00a0GGR was\u00a0<strong>down 22 per cent<\/strong>, while total domestic revenue was down 24 per cent when compared to the same period of the previous year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At\u00a0<strong>Star Gold Coast<\/strong>, domestic gaming revenue grew 18 per cent, while domestic gaming revenue at\u00a0<strong>Treasury Brisbane\u00a0<\/strong>was up 3 per cent when compared to the second half of the fiscal year 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Brisbane venue was closed between January and March<\/strong>\u00a0due to a lockdown to contain a rise in Covid-19 cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Star Entertainment Group has reported that domestic gaming revenue was up 37 per cent during the second half of the 2020\/2021 financial year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":17622,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"The Star Entertainment Group reported a 37% year-on-year increase in domestic gaming revenue for the second half of FY2020\/2021, signaling recovery from COVID-19 impacts.
