{"id":17586,"date":"2021-05-05T16:02:44","date_gmt":"2021-05-05T16:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=17586"},"modified":"2026-04-23T19:47:43","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T22:47:43","slug":"philippine-ggr-reaches-us536-2m-in-first-quarter-of-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippine-ggr-reaches-us536-2m-in-first-quarter-of-2021","title":{"rendered":"Philippine GGR reaches US$536.2m in first quarter of 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Philippines\u2019 licensed casinos reported an increase in GGR of 19.0 per cent compared with the previous quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Philippines.- PAGCOR has announced that licensed casinos and PAGCOR-operated casinos brought in GGR<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of PHP25.74bn (US$536.2m)<strong>\u00a0in Q1<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>2021<\/strong>, which represents an increase of 19.0 per cent from\u00a0<strong>PHP25.80bn (US$538.5m) in Q4<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, PAGCOR reported that\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippine-ggr-reaches-us400-8m-in-last-quarter-of-2020\">Philippine GGR<\/a>\u00a0was<strong>\u00a0down 43.9 per cent year-on-year, <\/strong>mainly due to the impact of Covid-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some <strong>82.1 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/metro-manila-casinos-to-remain-closed\">Philippine GGR<\/a>\u00a0came from Entertainment City, which hosts four casino venues: City of Dreams Manila, Solaire Resort and Casino, Okada Manila and Resorts World Manila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/summit-loans-suntrust-us120m-for-new-manila-casino\">SunTrust<\/a>, a Suncity Group subsidiary in the Philippines, has revealed plans to develop a\u00a0<strong>hotel and casino resort<\/strong>\u00a0in Manila\u2019s Entertainment City, which\u00a0<strong>will include 400 gaming tables<\/strong>\u00a0and 1,200 slot machines, 400 five-star hotel rooms and 960 parking spaces covering 44,000 square metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Casinos in Metro Manila will remain closed until at least May 14 under the extension of&nbsp;<strong>Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for the Philippine&#8217;s online casinos targeting offshore markets, due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions,\u00a0<strong>Andrea Domingo, chairman of PAGOR, <\/strong>has stated that\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippines-online-casinos-close-due-to-covid-19-restrictions\">half of the 60 online casinos<\/a>\u00a0that were operating in The Philippines have permanently closed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Philippines\u2019 licensed casinos reported an increase in GGR of 19.0 per cent compared with the previous quarter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"The Philippines' licensed casinos reported a 19.0% sequential GGR increase in Q1 2021 to PHP25.74bn, though year-on-year GGR declined 43.9% due to Covid-19 restrictions.
