The Philippines\u2019 licensed casinos reported an increase in GGR of 19.0 per cent compared with the previous quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.- PAGCOR has announced that licensed casinos and PAGCOR-operated casinos brought in GGR\u00a0<\/strong>of PHP25.74bn (US$536.2m)\u00a0in Q1<\/strong>\u00a02021<\/strong>, which represents an increase of 19.0 per cent from\u00a0PHP25.80bn (US$538.5m) in Q4<\/strong>\u00a02020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, PAGCOR reported that\u00a0Philippine GGR<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0down 43.9 per cent year-on-year, <\/strong>mainly due to the impact of Covid-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some 82.1 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Philippine GGR<\/a>\u00a0came from Entertainment City, which hosts four casino venues: City of Dreams Manila, Solaire Resort and Casino, Okada Manila and Resorts World Manila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, SunTrust<\/a>, a Suncity Group subsidiary in the Philippines, has revealed plans to develop a\u00a0hotel and casino resort<\/strong>\u00a0in Manila\u2019s Entertainment City, which\u00a0will include 400 gaming tables<\/strong>\u00a0and 1,200 slot machines, 400 five-star hotel rooms and 960 parking spaces covering 44,000 square metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casinos in Metro Manila will remain closed until at least May 14 under the extension of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the Philippine’s online casinos targeting offshore markets, due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions,\u00a0Andrea Domingo, chairman of PAGOR, <\/strong>has stated that\u00a0half of the 60 online casinos<\/a>\u00a0that were operating in The Philippines have permanently closed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
