Macau recorded its highest daily volume of visitors since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic on Friday April 16 with 34,252 arrivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The Macau Government Tourism Office has reported that <\/strong>191,828 visitors <\/strong>arrived in Macau during the third week of April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tourism industry, one of the hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, began to\u00a0show signs of recovery in March<\/a>, and on Friday April 16, Macau recorded its highest daily volume of visitors since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic with with 34,252 arrivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau registered\u00a0an average occupancy rate of hotel establishments of 61 per cent during the second week of April\u00a0<\/strong>as the Macau Government Tourism Office tries to promote the city as a safe destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city recently announced it is in talks with mainland Chinese authorities on\u00a0the possibility of mutual recognition of vaccination certificates<\/a> to boost tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau casinos has seen\u00a0gross gaming revenue\u00a0<\/strong>rise 3 per cent to an\u00a0average daily rate of MOP300m\u00a0<\/strong>thanks to better mass traffic and high VIP hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAR gaming operators to fully recover by 2023, analysts say<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the brokerage\u00a0Union Gaming states<\/strong>, Macau’s gaming operators may not see\u00a0a complete recovery until 2023\u00a0<\/strong>because of slow vaccination progress and\u00a0few travel bubbles between countries<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It expects EBITDA and\u00a0aggregate revenue to reach 95 per cent of 2019 levels by 2022<\/strong>\u00a0if VIP recovers to 50 per cent and mass to 105 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau has eased some\u00a0\u00a0Covid-19 restrictions<\/strong>, with arrivals from\u00a0<\/strong>Hong Kong\u00a0<\/strong>now subject to a quarantine of 14 days<\/a>\u00a0instead of 21 days plus seven days of health self-management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
