Among them were local government unit (LGU) employees and teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines.- Police have\u00a0<strong>arrested nine people on gambling charges in Solana<\/strong>, a municipality located in the province of Cagayan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officers say that <strong>local government unit employees, teachers and senior citizens\u00a0<\/strong>were among those arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Col. Ariel Quilang, Cagayan Provincial Police Office chief,\u00a0told local media that <strong>police raided a gambling den\u00a0<\/strong>on the orders of the Cagayan provincial intelligence unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quilang said: &#8220;The raid was based on the complaints of some residents in the area that\u00a0<strong>gambling was regularly taking place which could endanger the health and safety of the community<\/strong>\u00a0from Covid-19.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines has seen a resurgence of Covid-19 infections. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/manila-eases-covid-19-restrictions-but-casinos-remain-closed\">Metro Manila will remain under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ)<\/a>\u00a0measures until April 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Three of the main Phillippine casinos\u00a0<\/strong>have issued press releases announcing that <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/metro-manila-casinos-to-remain-closed\">they will remain closed at least until April 30<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police have busted a gambling den in Solana and arrested nine people.
