One of them is\u00a0<strong>a police officer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The officer <strong>has been suspended from duty\u00a0<\/strong>and could face a <strong>maximum penalty of seven years in jail<\/strong>\u00a0and a HK$5m fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities said the\u00a0<strong>rest of those arrested included suspected gamblers and five dealers<\/strong>. They said they found four poker tables inside the illegal gambling den.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those arrested could also be fined for breaking social-distancing rules related to the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to local media,\u00a0<strong>police seized HK$600,000 (US$77,131) in cash and gambling chips\u00a0<\/strong>along with 20 decks of cards and gambling paraphernalia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the weekend,\u00a0<strong>police also arrested 29 people in another illegal gambling raid<\/strong>\u00a0at a flat in Yuen Long On Ning Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/hong-kong-81-arrested-in-raid-on-gambling-dens\"><em>police closed down 14 triad-linked gambling dens in Wan Chai and the Eastern District<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police have busted a gambling den and found a police officer was linked to the illegal operation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Hong Kong police have conducted multiple raids on illegal gambling dens, arresting 65 individuals, including a suspended police officer suspected of operating an underground poker room.
