{"id":16231,"date":"2021-03-25T15:13:14","date_gmt":"2021-03-25T15:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=16231"},"modified":"2026-04-23T20:50:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T23:50:30","slug":"thailand-illegal-gambling-den-operator-arrested-for-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/thailand-illegal-gambling-den-operator-arrested-for-murder","title":{"rendered":"Thailand: illegal gambling den operator arrested for murder"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Somchai Jutikitdecha, an illegal gambling den operator, has been arrested on suspicion of proxy murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>US.- A man who operated casino dens in Thailand has been arrested again, but this time for the murder of the man who informed the police about his illegal gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Somchai Jutikitdecha,<\/strong> also known as Longjoo Somchai, was arrested at his house on Rat Bamrung Road in the Noen Phra tambon in Muang district at around 6am on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has been charged with the <strong>proxy murder of taxi motorcyclist Prathum Sa-adnak<\/strong>, who was shot dead behind Muang Pattaya 8 School in July last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to police,<strong> Prathum had taken photos of a place in Pattaya used by Jutikitdecha for illegal gambling<\/strong>. The property was subsequently raided by police, provoking the owner to order two supervisors to kill Prathum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two supervisors have been named as <strong>Suphan Mai-ngam <\/strong>and<strong> Thaworn Sarakul. <\/strong>They were arrested on December 9 and subsequently linked to Somchai by detectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Somchai was arrested in February this year for allegedly operating a network of gambling dens. <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/thailand-1-2bn-baht-in-assets-confiscated-from-gambling-operators\" target=\"_blank\">Various items were confiscated<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, from bank accounts to gold jewellery, vehicles, condominium units, houses and blocks of land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximately <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/thailand-253-more-police-officers-linked-to-illegal-gambling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">253 police offers<\/a><\/em><\/strong> are also being investigated by Thai authorities for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling in the Southeast Asian country. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Somchai Jutikitdecha, an illegal gambling den operator, has been arrested on suspicion of proxy murder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":16239,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"The arrest of an illegal gambling den operator, Somchai Jutikitdecha, on proxy murder charges, following his prior apprehension for illicit gambling activities, underscores significant governance and enforcement challenges in Thailand.
