Genting Singapore’s executive chairman Lim Kok Thay’s total remuneration doubled in 2020, when compared with figures reported by the company in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Singapore. The annual salary of the executive chairman of Genting Singapore, Lim Kok Thay, more than doubled in 2020<\/strong> despite the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the business as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to figures released by the casino company, Lim received remuneration <\/strong>(base salary plus any bonuses or other economic benefits) of SGD21.25m (US$15.79m) in 2020<\/strong>, a 123.7 per cent rise from the SGD9.50m reported in 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company’s annual report revealed that bonuses accounted for 81.1 per cent<\/strong> of Lim\u2019s remuneration last year, while 18.7 per cent was his base salary.<\/strong> In 2019, bonuses accounted for 46.7 per cent<\/strong> of Lim’s remuneration, almost half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the chairman’s statement in the 2020 annual report, Lim raised concerns over the company’s performance<\/strong>, and said revenues \u201cwere severely impacted\u201d by the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added: \u201clooking ahead, we expect the outlook to remain challenging with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Genting Singapore\u00a0brought in\u00a0revenues of SGD69.2m (US$52.1m)<\/a><\/strong><\/em> in 2020,\u00a0a drop of 89.9 per cent\u00a0year-on-year<\/strong>. Genting’s Resorts World Sentosa property rolled out staycation packages for local residents<\/strong> in a bid to make up for lost revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the casino giant\u00a0awarded a total of\u00a07,765,000 shares, priced at SGD0.85 per unit,\u00a0<\/strong>to employees through its performance share scheme.<\/a><\/em><\/strong> Around\u00a02m of the total\u00a0<\/strong>(worth SGD1.7m) were granted to Genting\u2019s directors, including\u00a0Lim Kok Thay<\/strong>\u00a0and chief operating officer Tan Hee Teck, who received 750,000 each.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
