The Standing Committee of Jeju Provincial Council has approved the request for approval of the Jeju Dream Tower casino despite criticism from a citizens\u2019 group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

South Korea.-\u00a0Lotte Tour Development Company’s<\/strong> request to relocate its Jeju casino<\/strong> to the new US$1.4bn Jeju Dream Tower has unexpectedly been recommended for approval <\/strong>by The Standing Committee of the Jeju Provincial Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few days ago an imminent approval seemed in doubt after a local citizens\u2019 group claimed that\u00a0official public opinion surveys had been manipulated<\/strong>, causing the provincial council to suspend its review of\u00a0the casino licensing application<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The approval recommendation will now face a plenary session of the council<\/strong> and Governor Won Hee-ryong will take a final decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dream Tower foreigner-only casino<\/a><\/em> is due to have 140 gaming tables, 190 slot machines, and 70 electronic gaming machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeju casino sales fall to US$61.5m in 2020<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The South Korean holiday island of Jeju<\/strong> reported that casinos together saw sales decline by 63.6 per cent year-on-year in 2020<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
