To date, a partnership between<strong> MGM Resorts International and ORIX is the only firm participant<\/strong> in Osaka&#8217;s IR tender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> implementation policy <\/strong>has also been modified to <strong>relax some requirements<\/strong> regarding space for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) and hotel accommodation in order to allow for a gradual expansion of the IR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prefecture has also revealed the final version of the local implementation policy for its integrated resort (IR) scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Osaka will choose its partner for its proposed <strong>IR project in September<\/strong> and resubmit its IR development plan to Japan\u2019s national government in April 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/osaka-drops-aim-to-open-casino-resort-by-march-2027\" target=\"_blank\">Osaka dropped its target opening date<\/a><\/em> for its IR project, which had been pushed back to <strong>March 2027<\/strong>. That<strong> date now appears to have been abandoned<\/strong> due to the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Current state of Japan&#8217;s IR developments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yokohama:<\/strong> <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/yokohama-new-group-to-support-anti-ir-mayoral-candidate\" target=\"_blank\">A group of residents has established an IR opposition group<\/a><\/em> and wants to promote a unified anti-IR mayoral candidate. Meanwhile, Yokohama\u2019s current mayor, Fumiko Hayashi has not yet clarified whether she intends to run for reelection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nagasaki:<\/strong> Three operators have been selected to progress to the next round of the selection process: <strong>Oshidori International Holdings<\/strong>, <strong>Casinos Austria<\/strong> <strong>International<\/strong> and <strong>Niki Chau Fwu Group<\/strong>. In June, the companies have to submit secondary examination documents.
