{"id":16004,"date":"2021-03-18T16:30:04","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T16:30:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=16004"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:00:54","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T00:00:54","slug":"macau-gaming-operators-ebitda-to-increase-15-in-2022-analysts-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-gaming-operators-ebitda-to-increase-15-in-2022-analysts-say","title":{"rendered":"Macau gaming operators&#8217; EBITDA to increase 15% in 2022, analysts say"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A reduction in operating costs market-wide and rising hotel room capacity will see Macau gaming operators&#8217; property EBITDA increase to over 2019 levels in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Morgan Stanley estimates <strong>Macau&#8217;s <strong>gaming operators could see property EBITDA <\/strong> increase <strong>15 per cent in 2022<\/strong>, when compared to 2019 levels.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rising hotel room capacity, <strong>growing demand and reduced costs<\/strong> are expected to benefit casino operators, leading to <strong>EBITDA of US$11bn in 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts noted that the openings of <strong>SJM\u2019s Grand Lisboa Palace <\/strong>and <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-macau-phase-4-to-move-ahead\" target=\"_blank\">Galaxy Entertainment Group\u2019s Galaxy Macau Phase 3<\/a><\/em> will <strong>increase the number of hotel rooms<\/strong> in Cotai by <strong>13 per cent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/the-londoner-macao-officially-opens\" target=\"_blank\">The Londoner Macao<\/a><\/em>, focusing on quality over quantity, <strong>ultra-high-end hotel rooms will be up 59 per cent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A circa <strong>4 per cent reduction in operating costs market-wide<\/strong> among the six Macau licensees will also help increase EBITDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Morgan Stanley stated: &#8220;<strong>Macau will look and feel different in 2022<\/strong> when compared to the pre-Covid world.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Macau\u2019s gaming operators could benefit from \u201conshoring\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Morgan Stanley &#8220;20 per cent of all Asia (ex-Macau) mass revenue could come back to Macau by 2022&#8221; thanks to <strong>\u201conshoring\u201d of Chinese consumer play <\/strong>that might previously have gone to neighbouring Asia Pacific destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asia-Pacific casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) for mass-market table games and slots outside Macau was <strong>about US$10.3bn in 2019<\/strong>.
