Macau.- The government<\/strong> has confirmed its intention to launch the re-tendering process for gaming rights<\/strong> in Macau in the second half of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau\u2019s current casino licences are due to expire in June 2022 <\/strong>but the city’s gaming laws state that th licences can be extended for up to five years from the original 20-year term<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government has said it is seeking to launch its public consultation on proposed amendments to Macau\u2019s gaming law <\/strong>in order to implement changes to the city\u2019s gaming licence<\/strong> criteria, but industry experts believe amendments will likely be delayed until after the legislative elections on September 12<\/strong><\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lei Wai Nong said: “The gaming industry is related to Macau\u2019s future and welfare, and the re-tendering of gaming licences is being prepared accordingly<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
