The number of new hires in Macau’s gaming industry was down by 86.6 per cent year-on-year in the last quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC)<\/strong> has reported that the number of new hires in Macau’s gaming industry dropped by 86.6 per cent <\/strong>year-on-year to 174 in the last quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total number of people employed full-time in the gaming sector decreased by 1,612 workers<\/strong> to 56,613.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DSEC’s survey reports that the number of vacancies decreased to 26, down by 417 year-on-year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Average earnings among gaming industry workers<\/strong> were down by 4.9 per cent year-on-year at MOP23,440 (US$3,047).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau hopes for gaming recovery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Macau<\/strong> hopes the casino sector will begin to recover in the second quarter<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the first seven days of March, revenues reached MOP$1.8bn (US$225m)<\/strong>, 19 per cent higher than in the final seven days of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
