{"id":15621,"date":"2021-03-09T15:19:17","date_gmt":"2021-03-09T15:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=15621"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:16:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T00:16:00","slug":"macau-ggr-up-19-in-first-week-of-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-up-19-in-first-week-of-march","title":{"rendered":"Macau GGR up 19% in first week of March"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Revenues reached MOP$1.8bn (US$225m), 19 per cent higher than in the final seven days of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Macau casinos saw <strong>gross gaming revenues of MOP$257m (US$32m)<\/strong> per day during the first seven days of March, up 19 per cent compared to the last week of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, at MOP$1.8bn (US$225m), GGR for the first week of<strong> March remains 70 per cent lower<\/strong> than the same week in March 2019 before the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau has been benefited by an<strong> easing of travel restrictions in mainland China<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to analysts at brokerage Sanford C Bernstein, <strong>VIP volume was down by between 2 per cent and 3 per cent from March 1 to 7 <\/strong>while mass volume showed a sequential increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bernstein said: \u201cChina has eased travel restrictions as their Covid spike from January and February has come under control.
