Now Rajasthan in the north plans to <strong>make online gambling a cognisable offence.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state government intends to introduce strict penal provisions including a jail term and steep fines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rajasthan<strong> Public Gambling Ordinance 1949, <\/strong>is likely to be <strong>amended through a new bill <\/strong>that is currently being prepared for presentation to a state assembly session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police officials in the state have said that <strong>each year they register over 50,000 cases under the Gambling Act <\/strong>and make thousands of arrests but that, under the current law, offenders are released as there is no provision for punishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new law <strong>distinguishes skill games from games of chance or combined games of skill and chance<\/strong>, unless it is carried out in a gaming house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other<strong> Indian states that have taken measures against online gambling<\/strong> include Andhra Pradesh and <em><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/another-state-in-india-bans-online-gambling\" target=\"_blank\">Tamil Nadu<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, which have already banned all forms of gaming that involve stakes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Rajasthan state government is considering amending its 1949 Public Gambling Ordinance to ban online gambling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":15535,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"The Rajasthan state government is preparing a bill to amend its 1949 Public Gambling Ordinance, aiming to ban online gambling and classify it as a cognizable offense with severe penal provisions.
