{"id":15485,"date":"2021-03-04T16:52:11","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T16:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=15485"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:21:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T00:21:01","slug":"imperial-pacific-faces-saipan-casino-licence-suspension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/imperial-pacific-faces-saipan-casino-licence-suspension","title":{"rendered":"Imperial Pacific faces Saipan casino licence suspension"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Imperial Pacific International could have its casino licence suspended after admitting to violating five regulatory orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Northern Mariana Islands.- Imperial Pacific International (IPI) is facing the <strong>possible suspension of its casino licence in Saipan<\/strong> for failing to comply with regulatory orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commonwealth Casino Commission (CCC) said Imperial Pacific International had <strong>violated five orders<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Failure to<strong> pay its US$3.1m annual regulatory fee <\/strong>in 2020.<\/li><li>Failure to<strong> comply with an order to settle debts<\/strong> with vendors.<\/li><li>Failure to<strong> fulfil minimum capital requirements<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Failure to <strong>pay its annual US$15.5m casino licence<\/strong> fee in 2020.<\/li><li>Failure to <strong>contribute US$20m to the community benefit<\/strong> fund on two occasions in 2018 and 2019.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Imperial Pacific&#8217;s future<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The casino operator <strong>has admitted all of the violations<\/strong>. Some voices among the authorities are seeking a<strong> US$20m fine <\/strong>against the operator while others want the complete removal of Imperial Pacific International&#8217;s licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Andrew Yeom<\/strong>, the executive director of the CCC, through Mike Ernst, his assistant attorney general, said the regulator would ask for &#8220;<strong>a licence suspension of indeterminate amount<\/strong> until they fully comply with the orders that they have violated.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ernst said <strong>a US$20m fine would be similar to revocation<\/strong> as &#8220;IPI would never be able to pay such an amount given its dire financial circumstances.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, IPI began the process to obtain a\u00a0<strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/ipi-to-apply-for-licence-for-new-ceo\" target=\"_blank\">casino key employee license\u00a0for its chief executive officer (CEO)<\/a><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Imperial Pacific International could have its casino licence suspended after admitting to violating five regulatory orders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":15493,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Imperial Pacific International (IPI) faces potential casino licence suspension in Saipan after admitting to five regulatory violations, including significant unpaid fees, vendor debts, and failure to meet minimum capital requirements.
