{"id":15469,"date":"2021-03-04T15:22:58","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T15:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=15469"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:22:31","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T00:22:31","slug":"sands-sells-las-vegas-properties-to-focus-on-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-sells-las-vegas-properties-to-focus-on-asia","title":{"rendered":"Sands sells Las Vegas properties to focus on Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Casino giant Las Vegas Sands is selling its world-famous Venetian casino for US$6.25bn to invest in its Asian businesses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Las Vegas Sands has announced that <strong>will sell its Las Vegas casino portfolio for US$6.25bn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will sell The Venetian Resort Las Vegas and Sands Expo and Convention Center to the private equity fund <strong>Apollo Global Management<\/strong> and <strong>Vici Properties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Apollo <\/strong>will acquire the venues&#8217; operating company for<strong> US$2.25bn<\/strong>. <strong>Vici Properties <\/strong>will buy the real estate assets <strong>for US$4bn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman and CEO Rob Goldstein said: \u201cAsia remains the backbone of this company and <strong>our developments in Macau and Singapore are the center of our attention<\/strong>. We will always look for ways to reinvest in our properties and those communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the company, <strong>Macau and Singapore accounted for 48 per cent and 35 per cent of the company&#8217;s total revenue respectively in 2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sands China has invested <strong>US$2bn in the transformation of Sands Cotai Central<\/strong> into <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/the-londoner-macao-officially-opens\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Londoner Macao<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, a London-inspired casino resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Could Sands purchase Australia&#8217;s Crown Resorts?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There has been speculation that Sands might make a move to buy the embattled Australian casino operator Crown Resorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bernstein analyst Vitaly Umansky said: &#8220;<strong>Crown Resorts could be a good fit for Sands in the long run<\/strong>.
