{"id":15201,"date":"2021-02-25T14:12:28","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T14:12:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=15201"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:32:53","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T00:32:53","slug":"galaxy-entertainment-returns-to-positive-ebitda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-entertainment-returns-to-positive-ebitda","title":{"rendered":"Galaxy Entertainment returns to positive EBITDA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Macau casino operator saw a notable improvement in operating revenue for the fourth quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Galaxy Entertainment Group has reported adjusted property <strong>EBITDA of HKD1.01bn (US$129.0m) for the fourth quarter<\/strong> of 2020, an increase of 207 per cent quarter-on-quarter from a HKD943m (US$121.6m) loss in Q3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company\u2019s last financial report of 2020 shows full-year <strong>net revenue of HKD12.88bn<\/strong>, down 75 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the three months to\u00a0December\u00a031, net revenue was HKD5.1bn, down 61 per cent year-on-year but <strong>up 229 per cent quarter-on-quarter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gross gaming revenue (GGR) was <strong>HKD4.64bn, up 435.5 per cent<\/strong>, from the preceding quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Galaxy Macau<\/strong>, the company&#8217;s primary revenue source, reported net revenue of HKD3.3bn, down 64 per cent year-on-year but up 430 per cent quarter-on-quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lui Che Woo, chairman and founder of Galaxy Entertainment, said: &#8220;The EBITDA improvement was largely driven by <strong>an increase in visitation <\/strong>which translated into increased revenue and continuing cost control.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Woo said that the Covid-19 pandemic continued to &#8220;<strong>impact the community and businesses globally <\/strong>including Macau and GEG.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company recently announced that its <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/galaxy-macau-phase-4-to-move-ahead\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Galaxy Macau Phase 4 will be complete in three years<\/strong><\/a><\/em> but has not specified an exact date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Macau casino operator saw a notable improvement in operating revenue for the fourth quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":15204,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Galaxy Entertainment Group reported a significant operational rebound in Q4 2020, with adjusted property EBITDA reaching HKD1.01bn and GGR increasing 435.5% quarter-on-quarter, driven by increased visitation and cost controls.
