{"id":14626,"date":"2021-02-12T16:54:11","date_gmt":"2021-02-12T16:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=14626"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:50:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T00:50:57","slug":"crowns-barangaroo-casino-could-become-lifestyle-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crowns-barangaroo-casino-could-become-lifestyle-centre","title":{"rendered":"Crown&#8217;s Barangaroo casino could become lifestyle centre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A former government architect has suggested an alternative use for the gaming floors at the Sydney development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Australia.-\u00a0A former New South Wales government architect has put forward plans for an <strong>alternative use for the gaming floors at Crown Resort&#8217;s stalled Barangaroo casino in the event that the operator is unable to keep its licence.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crown had hoped to launch the casino along with the rest of the waterfront venue in December but the opening has been stalled due to the ILGA&#8217;s inquiry into Crown&#8217;s fitness to hold a licence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now architect Chris Johnson has proposed that the three casino floors at the  $2bn hotel and apartment complex could be turned into &#8220;<strong>a luxury lifestyle centre<\/strong> mainly for the apartment owners plus for hotel guests.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Johnson, the complex could have &#8220;high end restaurants, boutique music venues, spas, international video connection rooms, mini conference spaces for networking and <strong>high-end education for high end members of an exclusive club<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are already 10 restaurants and bars open in the complex and limited retail on the ground floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crown has yet to comment on any possible plan B in the event that it is unable to make the changes required to retain its casino licence.
