{"id":14611,"date":"2021-02-12T13:12:36","date_gmt":"2021-02-12T13:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=14611"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:52:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T00:52:38","slug":"third-crown-resorts-board-member-steps-aside","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/third-crown-resorts-board-member-steps-aside","title":{"rendered":"Third Crown Resorts board member steps aside"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Andrew Demetriou has followed Guy Jalland and Michael Johnston in resigning from the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Australia.- Crown Resorts continues to ring the changes following the publication of the <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/ilga-crown-resorts-unsuitable-to-operate-barangaroo-casino\" target=\"_blank\">report into its fitness to maintain its casino licence<\/a><\/em><\/strong> for its new venue in Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Former Australian Football League (AFL) boss Andrew Demetriou<\/strong> has now followed Guy Jalland and Michael Johnston in resigning from Crown&#8217;s board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Demetriou was <strong>one of three directors<\/strong> identified by commissioner Patricia Bergin in her report on Crown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Demetriou said in a statement: \u201cI have always been a team player and supported the greater good. I will therefore step down from the Crown Resorts board to <strong>give Crown the best possible chance of becoming suitable to the NSW Regulator<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is expected that Crown&#8217;s chief executive<strong> Ken Barton<\/strong> will also step down in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operator\u2019s chair, Helen Coonan, has said that <em><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-resorts-chair-commits-to-work-with-nsw-gaming-regulator\" target=\"_blank\">more changes are on the way<\/a><\/strong><\/em> as the company responds to the ILGA report in an attempt to get the company into a shape that will allow it to open it&#8217;s stalled Barangaroo casino.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Andrew Demetriou has followed Guy Jalland and Michael Johnston in resigning from the board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":14612,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Crown Resorts is undergoing significant board and executive leadership changes following the Bergin Report's findings on its fitness to hold a casino license in Sydney.
