{"id":13893,"date":"2021-01-28T21:03:38","date_gmt":"2021-01-28T21:03:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=13893"},"modified":"2026-04-23T22:16:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T01:16:47","slug":"89-of-macau-casino-workers-are-local","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/89-of-macau-casino-workers-are-local","title":{"rendered":"89% of Macau casino workers are local"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Senior and middle management positions at the six major casino operators in Macau are mostly local people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- About <strong>89 per cent of casino workers <\/strong>in middle and senior management positions at the six big Macau casino operators are <strong>local.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The secretary for economy and finance, Lei Wai Nong, told TDM Radio that the percentage is in accordance with the<strong> government\u2019s target for local labour <\/strong>at casinos, which should be no lower of 85 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secretary Lei also noted that the percentage of local labour has maintained <strong>an upward trend <\/strong>in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of December 2020, there were <strong>9,940 <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-gaming-service-index-up-17-points\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">middle and high-level managers<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/strong> at &#8220;big six&#8221; operators and 89 per cent of them were local employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of December 2020, gaming operators were hiring 26,102 non-resident workers, accounting for about 24 per cent of workers.
