Northern Mariana Islands.- Imperial Pacific International (IPI) has said that it has begun the process to obtain a casino key employee license<\/strong> for its future chief executive officer (CEO)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IPI has been officially leaderless since December<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/strong>, although its last CEO, Donald Browne, was asked by the company board to return to the position temporarily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commonwealth Casino Commission<\/strong> (CCC) has made it clear that the role needs to be filled but a new chief executive cannot be hired without a casino key employee licence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marianas Variety also reported the CCC cannot issue the licence<\/strong> until IPI pays the US$3m<\/strong> it owes for its regulatory fee<\/strong>, which was due on October 1, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IPI said it was in the process of applying <\/strong>for a CCC license <\/strong>for a new CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, CCC executive director Andrew Yeom said on Wednesday that the commission had not yet received an application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IPI\u2019s new CEO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

IPI has approached the former Northern Mariana Islands senator Ray N. Yumul<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/strong> to replace Donald Browne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former senator has said that he reached a verbal agreement<\/strong> with the casino operator but that negotiations were still ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, federal court records indicated that he appears named as \u201cIPI CEO\u201d<\/strong> in a settlement conference<\/strong> regarding a sexual harassment case filed against IPI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also appeared in a status conference last week for five complaints against IPI filed with the CCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, IPI says that it has submitted a request to the government for the extension of its deadline<\/a><\/em><\/strong> to finish the construction in its Garapan casino resort.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
