{"id":13649,"date":"2021-01-22T07:24:01","date_gmt":"2021-01-22T07:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=13649"},"modified":"2026-04-23T22:28:43","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T01:28:43","slug":"yokohama-starts-rfp-to-select-partner-for-ir-bid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/yokohama-starts-rfp-to-select-partner-for-ir-bid","title":{"rendered":"Yokohama starts RFP to select partner for IR bid"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The city of Yokohama has begun the process to select a private partner for its integrated resort project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Japan.- The <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/yokohama-continues-to-promote-ir-bid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">city of Yokohama<\/a><\/em><\/strong> has launched a request for proposals in order to select a <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/yokohama-names-ir-operator-selection-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">private partner<\/a><\/em><\/strong> for its bid to receive one of Japan&#8217;s three new integrated resorts licences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application period for participation runs from Friday February 5 until Monday May 17. That will be followed by a period for documents to be examined between Tuesday June 1 and Friday June 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Once an operator has been selected<\/strong>, a development plan will be formulated. There will then be a <strong>period of public hearings<\/strong>, which is expected to be held in fall and winter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>city council aims to make a decision on its partner for developing the integrated resort and casino complex by March 22, 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final step in the process will be the application to central government, which is scheduled for April 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yokohama\u2019s RFP schedule<\/strong> is notably different from other candidate locations in the length of time it has set aside for deliberations on which operator to partner with \u2013 almost four months up until May 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city said in a statement: \u201cAlong with conveying the attractions of tourism in Japan to the world, Yokohama will become a gateway to Japan for inbound visitors from across the world, as we will be their landing point for attractive tourist locations across Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough this project, we will contribute to Japan\u2019s\u00a0growth strategy, which aims to bring in 60 million foreign visitors and JPY 1.5 trillion (US$14.5bn) in foreigner consumption in 2030, contributing to Japan\u2019s\u00a0sustainable growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seven companies participated in the original request for concept (RFC) in 2019, when the city first called for bidders.
