The gaming industry in Spain registered positive results during the third quarter of the year.

Spain.- Gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Spain totalled \u20ac191 million in the third quarter of the year. These results represent a 5% increase when compared to the same period in 2018 and a 7% rise from the second quarter of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All segments increased their revenues from the previous quarter, with the exception of casinos, which registered a 4% decline from Q2 but 9% up from a year before. Of the total GGR in the third quarter, betting accounted for 53%, casino 35%, poker 11% and bingo 2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Betting revenue registered a 17% rise when compared to the second quarter and 3% from 2018. Bingo posted a 5% rise in Q2 and a 1% increase from 2018. Poker experienced a 6% revenue increase from the second quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the financial report details that the monthly average of accounts active in the third quarter was 869,499. This number represents a 1% increase from 2018, while the average of new accounts was 253,678 and an 8% rise from the previous quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gambling industry in Spain also increased numbers in the marketing sector, as spend for the third quarter was \u20ac82.3 million. An annual growth of 6% can be attributed to a 46% rise in sponsorship and 11% in affiliates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spain fights match-fixing<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The sports betting market in Spain will collaborate to stop the reported threats around sports leagues<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. As confirmed by the local press, the professional leagues and sports betting operators will work together on a plan to curb match-fixing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The software Tyche will be in charge of this initiative, \u201cwhich helps by investigating information from different media, as well as from social networks, amateur forums and betting oscillations, relating it to what is happening during the game,\u201d El Confidencial reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
