Macau.- The last financial report of the year 2020 has revealed a fall of 79.3 per cent in gross gaming revenue from the previous year to MOP60.4 billion (US$7.5bn). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite a 16 percent month on month increase in gaming revenue in December to MOP7.8bn, the numbers show the devastating impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the Macau gaming industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), there was a small recovery in the number of visitors during the last month of the year, with Christmas Day recording 27755 arrivals, the second-highest daily record over the last ten months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, it still represented a 65.8 per cent drop from the same month the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Average daily visitor arrivals in Macau exceeded 24,000 during the holiday season between December 23 and 27, a number 20.2 per cent higher when compared with the average daily volume of visitors between December 1 and 22 and 30.5 per cent more than the average in October, even with the Golden Week period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
