Thailand had not been expected to open its <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/thailand-could-open-borders-in-early-2021\" target=\"_blank\">borders until early 2021<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal is to help the tourism industry recover after the impact of the pandemic. In 2019, over 40 million foreign visitors arrived in Thailand, generating US$60 billion in revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The local government is still requiring visitors to present Covid-19 test results and to go through 14-day quarantine upon arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A source from Thailand\u2019s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration told Bloomberg that more frequent tests for visitors during the quarantine might help the government shorten the isolation period to 10 days instead of 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, Thailand reported three new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, taking its overall tally to date to 4,300.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors from the US, Singapore, Japan, Australia and Italy are allowed to stay in Thailand for tourism for up to 30 days.
