{"id":12783,"date":"2020-12-16T21:44:04","date_gmt":"2020-12-16T21:44:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=12783"},"modified":"2026-04-23T23:07:36","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T02:07:36","slug":"crown-sydney-to-open-non-gaming-areas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-sydney-to-open-non-gaming-areas","title":{"rendered":"Crown Sydney to open non-gaming areas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The operator has received a provisional liquor licence to operate part of the new venue, which will open on December 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Australia.- Crown Resorts plans to inaugurate some non-gaming areas of its new Sydney property on December 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An inauguration was originally planned for mid-December, but the New South Wales Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) called for its <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-resorts-cancels-sydney-casino-inauguration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suspension<\/a><\/em><\/strong> until further notice while the regulator decides if the company is fit to keep its casino licence. A decision on that is expected in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, Crown has received an ILGA liquor licence on an interim basis from December 16 until April 30 so will move forward with the inauguration of non-gaming parts of the venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The liquor licence includes operations at the Crown Towers hotel, bars and some restaurants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ILGA chair Philip Crawford said the regulator is considering a further two liquor licences for other non-gaming areas of the casino, with a final decision expected within the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said: \u201cCrown is finalising its pre-opening activities and expects to progressively commence non-gaming operations at Crown Sydney from 28 December 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crown will be required to re-apply for a full liquor licence in May 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said: \u201c[This] will enable ILGA to consider any suitability concerns arising from the ILGA Inquiry before deciding on an extension to the liquor licence.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The operator has received a provisional liquor licence to operate part of the new venue, which will open on December 28.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":12785,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Crown Resorts has secured a provisional liquor licence from the New South Wales Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) for non-gaming areas of its new Sydney property, allowing a partial opening on December 28.
