{"id":12756,"date":"2020-12-15T23:08:22","date_gmt":"2020-12-15T23:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=12756"},"modified":"2026-04-23T23:10:55","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T02:10:55","slug":"lotto-nz-sees-online-sales-double","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/lotto-nz-sees-online-sales-double","title":{"rendered":"Lotto NZ sees online sales double"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Pandemic restrictions and high prizes boosted the number of users that signed up during the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>New Zealand.- Lotto NZ has said that it saw record sales and profits for 2020 due to an increase in Powerball prizes and the growth of online sales during pandemic restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a briefing to New Zealand&#8217;s incoming minister of internal affairs, the operator said that online sales had doubled as a proportion of total sales, from 19 per cent in 2019 to 38 per cent as of October 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sales had also been boosted by record AU$50m (US$37.8m) \u201cmust be won\u201d Powerball jackpots in February in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The briefing said: \u201cA key driver of this increase was the growth in the number of people registering to play on MyLotto during the March-April Covid lockdown, while Lotto NZ retail outlets were closed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Online sales via MyLotto have increased by 89 per cent since 2019 to AU$431m (US$325.8m).
