The draft outlines the role of the chosen casino operator and the procedure for potential private partners to submit their proposals to the city\u2019s IR operator selection committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The policy states that the resort must have an international conference hall, non-gaming facilities and privately-operated hotels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The policy also includes rules that will apply if an operator experiences financial difficulties. It also demands the company make efforts to revitalise the local economy and tourism industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The policy will be discussed further at a council meeting, after which symposiums and briefings will be held to inform residents about the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yokohama is one of the locations in the race for one of three casino licences Japan’s central government plans to issue in 2022. Genting Singapore<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is one of the potential private partners that has already expressed interest in the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prefecture recently named former finance minister Eisuke Sakakibara as head of the committee<\/a><\/em><\/strong> that will decide on the private operator for its integrated resorts bid.
