{"id":12643,"date":"2020-12-13T19:06:19","date_gmt":"2020-12-13T19:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=12643"},"modified":"2026-04-23T23:16:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T02:16:01","slug":"singapore-to-lift-restrictions-for-visitors-from-taiwan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/singapore-to-lift-restrictions-for-visitors-from-taiwan","title":{"rendered":"Singapore to lift restrictions for visitors from Taiwan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of negotiating a travel bubble, the country will unilaterally open its borders with Taiwan on December 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singapore.- Rather than arrange a travel bubble as initially expected, Singapore has decided to unilaterally open its border with Taiwan in an attempt to increase visitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAAS), entry restrictions will be lifted for visitors from Taiwan on December 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Travellers will be able to apply for a single-entry Air Travel Pass (ATP) to enter Singapore as long as they were in Taiwan for 14 consecutive days before departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a release, the CAAS said: \u201cTaiwan has a comprehensive public health surveillance system and has displayed successful control over the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Over the past 28 days, Taiwan has zero local COVID-19 cases. The risk of importation from Taiwan is low.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Passengers will have to take a COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test on arrival, and if the result is negative, they will be able to enter the country without a Stay-Home Notice (SHN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same measures will apply for Singapore residents returning from Taiwan as of December 18, the CAAS said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singapore has already lifted border restrictions for travellers from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, mainland China, New Zealand and Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, a proposed travel bubble between the country and Hong Kong has been <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/hk-singapore-travel-bubble-delayed-until-2021\" target=\"_blank\">delayed until 2021<\/a><\/em><\/strong> due to a spike in Covid-19 cases in the Special Administrative Region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Instead of negotiating a travel bubble, the country will unilaterally open its borders with Taiwan on December 18.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Singapore's unilateral decision to open its borders with Taiwan, effective December 18, by lifting entry restrictions and implementing a PCR test-on-arrival protocol, represents a strategic move towards regional economic recovery.
