Macau.- Grand Lisboa Hotel expects to reach close to 50 per cent occupancy in December, according to Henry Kong Fuk Leung, a member of the venue\u2019s management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Kong said the venue\u2019s room-occupancy rate had risen to a range of 30 to 40 per cent since mainland China\u2019s Golden Week holiday in October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), occupancy at the 431-room hotel had been 16.7 per cent in September, compared to 84.6 per cent in the same month last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the third quarter of 2019, the Grand Lisboa Hotel\u2019s average room-occupancy rate had been 91.3 per cent, with an average room rate of HKD1,516 (US$195) per night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Kong said rates for Grand Lisboa rooms were down between 20 and 30 per cent compared to last December. This situation should be attractive to tourists from neighbouring Guangdong province, who otherwise would make only a day trip to the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
MGTO has also shared data from the Macau Hotel Association that shows an average hotel occupancy of 42.8 per cent for October, down from 88.6 per cent in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
