The Philippines.- The Philippine casino sector has recorded\u00a0nearly PHP15.95bn (US$331.5m)\u00a0in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the third quarter, up 602.6 percent from the previous quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those numbers still represent a fall of 71.2 per cent against the same period in 2019, when GGR was PHP55.34 billion, but it marks a reasonable start to operations after a lockdown that lasted the whole of the second quarter of the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Casinos were allowed to resume operations in June at 30 per cent capacity, although there is still a lockdown in Metro Manila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Private-sector casinos generated just\u00a0under PHP15.04bn in GGR for the\u00a0three months to September 30. Private-sector casinos based in Entertainment City\u00a0accounted for\u00a0about\u00a0PHP12.96bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pagcor\u2019s own Casino Filipino venues saw GGR\u00a0of PHP914.7m up, from PHP88.0m in the\u00a0previous quarter but down\u00a090.2 per cent from the\u00a0PHP9.33bn recorded\u00a0in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
