The average salary in the gaming sector was down by 5.5 per cent in June compared to the same month in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The number of full-time employees at gaming companies in Macau decreased by almost one\u00a0per cent in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The local Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) revealed that the tally for full-time employees dropped by 381, to 57,459 people, with female employees making up 57.7 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shift working employees accounted for 94.4 per cent. This segment of the workforce was also down by 1.1 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salaries were down by 5.5 per cent year-on0-year, excluding bonuses. The average salary was MOP23,200 (US$2,905) a month. Resident and non-resident employees earned an average of MOP23,370 and MOP19,830 respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revealing the results of the Q2 Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages in the gaming sector, the DSEC stated: \u201cOwing to the impact of novel coronavirus pneumonia, there were only 25 vacancies at the end of the second quarter, down significantly by 879 year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmong the vacancies, 68 per cent required work experience, 76 per cent required tertiary education, and requirement for knowledge of Mandarin and English both stood at 88 per cent.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of dealers stood at 25,344, up by 131 year-on-year but down by 115 from the end of the fourth quarter of 2019. Dealers’ average earnings fell by 7.6 per cent year-on-year to MOP19,270 (US$2,413).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
