Macau.- The number of visitors arriving in Macau is rising with daily arrivals of 20,000 since the beginning of November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The figures were presented this week by Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) during a plenary meeting of the Tourism Development Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Visitor arrivals declined by 86.7 per cent year-on-year to 4.02 million between January and September, with a low of just 11,041 arrivals \u2013 368 per day \u2013 in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since then, visitor numbers have gradually improved mainly due to the resumption of the Individual Visit Scheme for mainland Chinese visitors in August, reaching a daily average of around 19,000 in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senna Fernandes reported that the number has now climbed to 20,600 arrivals per day with a peak of 25,444 on Friday November 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of the MGTO also said average hotel occupancy rates had reached 38.1 per cent in October and ranged between 33 per cent and 45 per cent in the first week of November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
