Fiji.- A multi-million dollar development in Fiji could feature the country’s first casino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The developer, Lodhias, will seek to obtain government approval for a casino as part of the development in Waimanu Road in the capital, Suva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost of the project, which includes a 12-storey tower, has been estimated at between US$24m and US$38m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lodhias says it has received expressions of interest from potential investors in the US, India, China and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project would create 500 jobs for locals and would take between two and four years to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the final value of the project will depend on whether developers obtain government approval for a casino and medical facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lodhia said: “Due to Fiji’s Covid-19 contained status and ongoing improvements in its investment climate, we have decided to gauge the local interest for such a project as market conditions are becoming favourable for new business.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
