{"id":11747,"date":"2020-11-12T21:58:42","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T21:58:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=11747"},"modified":"2026-04-24T00:08:25","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T03:08:25","slug":"sega-sammy-cuts-executive-payment-and-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sega-sammy-cuts-executive-payment-and-staff","title":{"rendered":"Sega Sammy cuts executive payment and staff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0Japanese\u00a0gaming firm plans to cut 650 positions from its\u00a09,051-strong payroll\u00a0by the end of the year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Japan.-\u00a0Sega Sammy Holdings has opened a\u00a0voluntary redundancy scheme through which it plans to reduce its staff by 650.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company also confirmed its directors will take pay cuts as the firm expects\u00a0extraordinary losses\u00a0of JPY10bn (US$95m)\u00a0in the fiscal year ending March 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said: \u201cIn light of the situation that many of our\u00a0group&#8217;s business are significantly affected\u00a0by Covid-19, we have established a Structural Reform Committee to reform our organization\u00a0structure to adapt to the external environment and working to review the balance sheet for non-business properties, build an organizational structure that can\u00a0adapt to changes in the market environment, and\u00a0reduce costs\u00a0centred\u00a0on group-wide fixed expenses.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of this restructuring was the <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sega-sammy-to-transfer-amusement-centres\" target=\"_blank\">transfer of its amusement centres<\/a><\/em><\/strong> business to GENDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sega Sammy said: \u201cWe consider that it is necessary to promote cost-reduction centred on fixed expenses and&nbsp;build an even more efficient system and decided to call for voluntary retirement of employees.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eligible\u00a0applicants will be full-time employees and contract employees\u00a0of the four companies in the group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme will be open from November 16 to December 25, and those chosen will leave the group on February 28, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the representative director of the board will see his salary reduced by 30 per cent.
