{"id":11663,"date":"2020-11-10T22:31:49","date_gmt":"2020-11-10T22:31:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=11663"},"modified":"2026-04-24T00:12:46","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T03:12:46","slug":"macau-to-reopen-borders-to-foreigners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-reopen-borders-to-foreigners","title":{"rendered":"Macau to reopen borders to foreigners"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Some visitors will be allowed to apply to enter the city as of December 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- The government has announced it will begin to accept applications from foreign nationals who wish to enter the city as of December 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The borders will not reopen for everyone, and not for tourism purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government said in an executive order that foreign visitors serving public interest will be allowed to apply to enter, \u201cparticularly those relating to disease prevention and control, and emergency rescue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government will also accept applications from mainland China from people who have been there in the 14 days before arrival. However, the visitors much meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Being a spouse or child of a Macao resident;<\/li><li>Be registered with the authorities as a non-resident worker, or hold a permit to enter Macao for work purposes, or be a family member of such a worker;<\/li><li>Be a student registered at a higher education institution in Macau;<\/li><li>Plan to visit Macao for an important business event, or academic or professional activities.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government has the final decision on whether or not to grant approval to any applications and has committed to making a decision within 15 days of applications being received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents from mainland China have been <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/visitation-to-macau-surpasses-20000-a-day\" target=\"_blank\">allowed into Macau<\/a><\/em><\/strong> through the individual visit scheme (IVS) since late September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some visitors will be allowed to apply to enter the city as of December 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":11665,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau will begin accepting applications for entry from foreign nationals and specific mainland China residents starting December 1, prioritizing those serving public interest, non-resident workers, students, and individuals with important business or academic activities.
