Singapore.-\u00a0Genting Singapore has resumed its \u201ccruises to nowhere\u201d on a trial basis, while the Japanese firms NYK and\u00a0Mitsui has also begun running short local trips.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NYK\u2019s Asuka II and Mitsui\u2019s Nippon Maru are running short, domestic cruises with limited capacity and safety protocols in place.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asuka, which has a capacity of 870, ran its first service on November 2 with 330 passengers on board. Nippon Maru sailed from the port of Kobe on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 6, Genting Singapore’s World Dream liner set sail from the Malacca Strait\u00a0with reduced capacity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety measures include regular disinfection, restaurants with reduced capacity, while guests have to book the swimming pool in advance. The ship’s clinic is kitted out with a virus testing machine which gives results in an hour. It also has an intensive care unit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cruises in Asia were halted in March due to the Covid-19 outbreaks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Genting Cruise Lines\u2019 World Dream and Royal Caribbean International\u2019s Quantum have been authorised to run pilot trips in Singapore<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0Royal Caribbean\u2019s cruise ship is expected to begin sailing in December.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
