Morgan Stanley believes that a Democrat victory in the US could lead to a more favourable relationship with Chinese authorities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.-\u00a0Morgan Stanley has upgraded American operator Wynn resorts, citing a post-pandemic uptick, “overblown” concerns about Macau’s high end, and a possible improvement in US-China relations if Biden wins the US elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has raised Wynn\u2019s rating from\u00a0\u201cequal-weight\u201d\u00a0to\u00a0\u201coverweight\u201d and lifted its price target from US$90 to US$95.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said: \u201cWe upgrade Wynn as we see 1) an upcoming operating inflection with further upside post-Covid, 2) overblown concerns about Macau high-end, & 3) a positive catalyst if Biden wins, all at an attractive valuation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bank believes that a potential victory for the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, could\u00a0lead\u00a0to an easing of tensions<\/a><\/em><\/strong> between the American government and Chinese authorities, favouring Wynn\u2019s operation in the Macau SAR.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan Stanley said a Biden administration \u201cwill likely take a softer tone toward geopolitical relations with the world\u2019s second-largest economy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There have been concerns that American operators could receive less favourable treatment in Macau’s next licence tender, which is set to take place in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan Stanley analyst Thomas Allen said: \u201cWe would expect to see Wynn stock re-rate if Biden wins the presidency.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
