{"id":11175,"date":"2020-10-24T18:55:57","date_gmt":"2020-10-24T18:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=11175"},"modified":"2026-04-24T00:41:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T03:41:40","slug":"delta-buys-45-stake-in-shipyard-firm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/delta-buys-45-stake-in-shipyard-firm","title":{"rendered":"Delta buys 45% stake in shipyard firm"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The US$2.1m operation is expected to close by December 31.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>India.-\u00a0Indian gaming operator Delta Corp has informed its shareholders that its cruising division, the\u00a0wholly-owned Delta Pleasure Cruise Company, has subscribed 45 per cent of the equity shares of Waterways Shipyard Private\u00a0Limited (WSPL).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation is valued at up to 15.5\u00a0crore (US$2.1 million) and is expected to complete by December 31.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company stated: \u201cWSPL is an established shipyard operator on India\u2019s western coast, which has previously constructed over 60 vessels, including the vessel \u2018Casino Royale\u2019 used for casino operations by one of the company\u2019s subsidiaries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGiven the significance of marine vessels to the Company\u2019s casino business, this investment is expected to bring strategic benefits and a&nbsp;long-term&nbsp;partner to support Delta Group\u2019s vessel building and maintenance requirements.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WSPL&nbsp;operates a shipyard in Udupi, Karnataka, and had a gross turnover close to US$1.6 million in the 2018-19 financial year.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delta Corp, meanwhile, has recently informed India\u2019s National Stock Exchange\u00a0that it expects to return to <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/delta-expects-return-to-normalcy-this-fiscal-year\" target=\"_blank\">pre-covid\u00a0activity\u00a0levels<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by March 2021.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The US$2.1m operation is expected to close by December 31.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":11177,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Indian gaming operator Delta Corp, through its wholly-owned Delta Pleasure Cruise Company, has acquired a 45% equity stake in Waterways Shipyard Private Limited (WSPL) for US$2.1 million.
