{"id":11025,"date":"2020-10-19T21:41:51","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T21:41:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=11025"},"modified":"2026-04-24T00:51:39","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T03:51:39","slug":"emperor-expects-us20m-in-net-losses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/emperor-expects-us20m-in-net-losses","title":{"rendered":"Emperor expects US$20m in net losses"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The company attributed poor financial results to travel restrictions, which led to a 90 per cent drop in gaming revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.-\u00a0Emperor Entertainment Hotel has issued a profit warning in relation to its half-year financial results.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a release to the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, the company said a preliminary review of its\u00a0latest\u00a0financial information indicates it will record\u00a0a consolidated net loss attributable to owners of not more than HK$160 million (US$20.64 million) for the six months ending September 30.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That compares to HK$177.2 million (US$22.86 million) in net profit recorded in the same period in 2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The release said: &#8220;such net loss was mainly attributable to a significant decrease of around 90 per cent of the group\u2019s gaming revenue due to a drastic decrease in the number of patrons during the period, which was a result of the travel restrictions and health quarantine arrangements for inbound travellers against the Covid-19\u00a0pandemic.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interim results for the half-year period will be published in late\u00a0November.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its last full year\u2019s financial\u00a0report,\u00a0the company, which operates its gaming business in association with SJM, registered a <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/emperor-international-revenue-plummets\" target=\"_blank\">17 per cent loss<\/a><\/em><\/strong> year-on-year.
