Singapore.- With the resumption of cruise activities following authorisation from the Singapore Tourism Board, Genting Cruise Lines has announced it will hire 100 workers for a variety of positions, from marine officers to chefs, media technicians and hospitality staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The firm intends to give an opportunity for Singaporeans “who have lost their jobs” due to the pandemic, to join the company before relaunching its “cruise to nowhere” sailings in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Royal Caribbean\u2019s Quantum of the Seas expects to also resume operations in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both operators will be required to obtain a certificate under the Singapore Tourism Board’s new CruiseSafe certification programme before sailing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dream Cruises President Michael Goh, said in a statement: \u201cHistorically, international crew on cruise ships have to work for 11 months with a one-month vacation”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs World Dream operates short two- and three-night cruises, Singaporeans joining as crew can work on the ship with shorter work arrangements that could allow them to see their families frequently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
