Macau.- The Golden Week holiday period ends today and the balance is disappointing for Macau. Tourism numbers remained lower than expected during the week and failed to give the gaming industry the boost it hoped for after the impact of the pandemic on business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to SJM Holdings’ co-chairman and executive director, Angela Leong On Kei, the holidays did not meet the expectations. She said: “We could see the flow of people is not enough, and step by step. It is worst than expected”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking after an SJM event to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People\u2019s Republic of China, Leong added: “Revenues are not satisfactory, they are worst than we had anticipated.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the resumption of individual tourist visas for the whole of mainland China, the tally of visitors remained way behind the almost 1 million reported last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
