{"id":10630,"date":"2020-10-05T20:55:32","date_gmt":"2020-10-05T20:55:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=10630"},"modified":"2026-04-24T01:16:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T04:16:08","slug":"travel-to-resume-between-japan-and-south-korea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/travel-to-resume-between-japan-and-south-korea","title":{"rendered":"Travel to resume between Japan and South Korea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Business travel could restart between the two countries as soon as early October.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Japan.-\u00a0Japan and South Korea are close to reaching an agreement to resume business travel. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement would permit long as well as short trips and it could begin in early October, Nikkei agency reported.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Short-term visitors will be able to avoid the mandatory two-week quarantine if they provide a negative coronavirus test along with a trip itinerary.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For longer stays, visitors will have to\u00a0self-isolate for two weeks. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move is intended to promote economic recovery in both countries. Japan closed its borders in April and Seoul has barred travel from Japan, except for long-term residents.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/japan-likely-to-ease-restrictions-for-foreign-visitors   https:\/\/www.jnto.go.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\">Japan National Tourism Organization<\/a><\/em><\/strong> says South Korea was the second country of origin for visitors to Japan last year, accounting for 5.58 million visits, of which about 310,000 came for business purposes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Korea is set to become the second country after Singapore to which Japan is <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/japan-likely-to-ease-restrictions-for-foreign-visitors\" target=\"_blank\">reopening its borders<\/a><\/em><\/strong> for both short- and long-term visits.
