The firm was aiming to participate in an integrated resort bid in either Hokkaido or Okinawa.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Akimoto was released from jail on February 12,\u00a0but was arrested again in August and in September for attempting to give cash to two\u00a0former\u00a0500.com advisors in exchange for them providing false testimony in court.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In September, prosecutors <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/japan-akimoto-could-have-bail-revoked\" target=\"_blank\">asked the court to revoke his bail<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, a petition that has now been granted, as the court considered\u00a0Akimoto had violated Japan\u2019s organised crime laws.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The legal authorities decided that Akimoto would forfeit the JPY30 million (US$284,000)\u00a0bond he\u00a0had deposited as bail.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After being released in February, Akimoto was arrested again for allegedly trying to bribe two\u00a0former\u00a0500.com advisors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"The Tokyo District Court has revoked the bail of former senior vice-minister Tsukasa Akimoto, who faces trial for allegedly accepting JPY7.6 million from 500.com in connection with an integrated resort bid.
