Macau.- The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) has opened investigations into the dismissal of 48 workers since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to information from Macau News Agency, the Labour department has received nine complaints of unfair dismissal. One employer involved is the junket group Seng Keng, which has dismissed 25 local employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workers revealed internal notices sent by the junket group in August and Septemeber, in which the company said it was dismissing all 25 employees because the pandemic had deeply impacted its revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The DSAL told MNA: “For any case of labour disputes, DSAL will follow up investigations in a balanced manner to protect the legitimate rights and interests of employees in accordance with the law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“If any violation of the law is discovered, it must be followed up in accordance with legal procedures”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has also revealed that from February to September 15 of this year, the Bureau opened a total of 927 labour dispute cases involving 1,819 employees, of which 1,131 were local and 688 non-local.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
