{"id":10321,"date":"2020-09-24T21:12:47","date_gmt":"2020-09-24T21:12:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=10321"},"modified":"2026-04-24T01:33:04","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T04:33:04","slug":"pagcor-fee-revenue-down-almost-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-fee-revenue-down-almost-50","title":{"rendered":"PAGCOR fee revenue down almost 50%"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>State revenue from regulatory fees paid by POGOs is only half what it was before Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.&#8217;s (PAGCOR) income from the monthly regulatory fees paid by Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) and their service providers has been halved due to the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jose Tria, PAGCOR assistant vice president for offshore gaming licensing, said: \u201cmonthly regulatory fees of around Php600 million (US$12.3 million) pre-Covid-19 is now down by almost half.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the reduction would be even higher if the collection formula did not allow PAGCOR to impose regulatory fees higher than 2 per cent of POGOs\u2019 gross gaming revenues (GGR)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local media reported that PAGCOR&#8217;s revenues had <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-ggr-drops-to-us49m-in-q2\" target=\"_blank\">dropped due to reduced operations<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, since some POGOs have not been allowed to resume business due to unpaid tax debts, and because also online gaming revenues were lower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tria confirmed that 32 out of the 62 POGOs registered with <strong><em>PAGCOR<\/em><\/strong> have resumed operations, as well as 111 out of 218 accredited POGO services providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though the Malaca\u00f1ang government led by Rodrigo Duterte has denied there is an exodus of POGOs from the Philippines, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said a building owner in Makati City had told him offshore gaming operators had been cancelling their lease contracts in light of new restrictions on operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tria said the licences of five POGOs had been cancelled, while another five were suspended, and 42 service providers had requested the cancellation of their accreditation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State revenue from regulatory fees paid by POGOs is only half what it was before Covid-19.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":10323,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.'s (PAGCOR) monthly regulatory fee income from Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) has halved post-Covid-19, dropping from approximately Php600 million.
