Singapore.- The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed the country remains on track to establish a new centralised authority to oversee the gaming industry by 2021.

The Ministry says the Covid-19 pandemic had not affected the timetable set for the creation of the new Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), which will derivate from the current Casino Regulatory Authority (CRA).

It will also take on responsibilities for other forms of gambling, such as gaming machines in clubs, which are currently overseen by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Gambling Regulatory Unit and the Singapore Totalisator Board.

Authorities say they will also complete a review of new gambling regulations for 2021. It’s expected that they could tighten rules for casinos.
